Winter where I live — Brockport, New York, Buffalo’s neighbor — is not a season. It’s a personality. Lake effect snow, ice on everything, air so dry your skin files a complaint.
These are the things I actually use to get through it. Every single one is something I filmed in my real house, on my real driveway, in real snow. Each one links to my full review if you want the deep dive, and the shop button is right there if you already know.
Stay Warm
Moosehill Fleece Lined Hiking Pants
Regular pants in a New York winter? Absolutely not. These are fleece lined, water resistant, and they have five zipper pockets. My full review shows the fit on a real person.
Snow Duty
Houselife Cordless Snow Shovel Plus
A shovel with a battery. It runs on DeWalt 20V MAX, clears an 11-inch path, and tosses snow 20 feet while it plows. Steps and walkways don’t stand a chance.
Houselife Cordless Snow Blower
For the bigger jobs: a 20-inch brushless snow thrower on the same DeWalt 20V platform, with a rotating chute. No cord to drag through the snow.
GarveeLife Large Snow Shovel Pusher
Push it, don’t lift it. A 40-inch-wide metal blade on wheels — the snow moves, your back stays out of it.
HETFOENT Heated Snow Melting Mats (30x60in)
Every house has one spot that turns into an ice rink. This is one big heated mat for exactly that spot — snow lands on it and melts.
HETFOENT Heated Snow Melting Mats (3 pieces)
The 3-piece set lays out a whole heated walking path — steps, walkway, the route to the door.
More heated path coverage, because it is never not snowing here. Melt the path instead of shoveling it.
The ice melt I use with two Bengals in the house: pet safe, no salt, no chloride. The cats walk on what I melt with, so this one matters.
Cozy House
Heated air is dry air, and this 6L top-fill smart humidifier is the one I filmed twice. Comparing humidifiers? I wrote a whole guide to mine.
Humidifier and air purifier in one machine, for big rooms and bedrooms.
The Fun Part (Holiday)
SUNFUCAN Laser Christmas Projector
Christmas lights without the ladder. This projector does the whole house from the ground.
HUGE & Jumbo C9 Christmas Pathway Lights
Big classic C9 bulbs lining the walkway. Team big bulbs forever.
The backdrop that transformed my room — these started this whole blog.
Sto’sense Pop Up Christmas Tree
The tree that sets itself up. Pull it up, plug it in, done — pre-lit and pre-decorated.
